It is the most diffucult tower defense game ever. I doubt that there will ever be a harder tower defense game than 'Alien Robot Monsters'.In principle the game is fun and comes with the typical addiction tower defense games offer. Graphics are fine and the music is very good. Towers and enmies are interesting. And although I really like tower defense games 'Alien Robot Monsters' was a rather painful experience. The problem with this game is that it only allows one solution. You have to play maps again and again and again to find out which setup works. IMO that's not how a tower defense game should work. If you look at 'Defense Grid' you can use tons of different approaches to beat maps. 'Defense Grid' does not let you down. It allows you to experiment and reach your goal with different strategies. This is not the case for 'Alien Robot Monsters'. There is only one way and you have to find it in order to collect three stars on a map. It's like a racing game with 200 different cars but all players select the same car because it's the only car that allows you to compete with other players. Try 'The Crew' to find out more.I consider a game a good game if it's fun. 'Alien Robot Monsters' caused me far too much frustration to recommend the game. Since I do not want other players, especially not friends of mine, to go through the same painful experience, I can not recommend the game. There are very many other tower defense games available that simply do better than 'Alien Robot Monsters'. But if you feel like Superman or like playing single maps for hours again and again, go ahead and try. You have been warned.. I actually had a lot of fun with this game. It deffinetely worths its price and more. It took me some time to finish it, since there are very hardcore stages and recquired several attempts to finish them. Also the voice acting is very funny and has a nice atmospheric music. I recommend this game to those who love Tower defense kind of game.. The game has a bug. Skip to the bottom of this review... See my edit post.If you are a Tower Defense junkie, then you need to play this game!!!I need more time with this game to fully review it, but know that this game is great, but it is not for the casual player. It is tough-as-nails hard, but fair. If you loose a map, it will usually be your fault, so try different strategies or check the forums. It is not a grindy game either, so you need to be smart when spending points on upgrades. Not all upgrades seem good, like 2% armor to troops, but it might be the edge you need to pass a map??? You can reset your upgrade points though! So far, the game is great! There are some ideas that I haven't seen in too many Tower Defense (TD) games and they are done very well. The maps are thought out well and you can move troops around within their range. This makes the game more hands on and is more interactive than other TD games. This game isn't boring! That's for sure! Some TD games you just sit there waiting for more cash to build. Zzzz There is an advance button for the next wave, but beware that you don't click it too soon and get overwhelmed! You get extra cash depending on the time left, shown as a red bar next to the advance wave button. The graphics and sounds are cool and the creeps look good & are animated well. They fit the theme of the game. You also get some other ways to blast creeps. Missiles being one of them, which IMO, could use some tweeking. They don't always hit their mark and waste valuable cash you could have spent other ways. Although you can increase the amount of missiles and damage via upgrades, so this will probably compensate for their misguided guidence systems... lolAs I said I need more time with the game, but it has been real fun so far. I have read some of the forum posts. It seems like there are some maps which require a certain strategey to beat, so it could be a bit frustrating at times trying to figure out that exact strategy. I have not run into a map like that yet, but I'm not that far into yet either. My biggest concern at this point is replayability. So far, there aren't any Endless or Skirmish modes, but those may open at the end of the game, or be added at some point. If not, once you beat the game, there is no reason to replay the game. That would suck as it will take a lot of your time to beat this game.Anyway, so far its great in all aspects of a TD game, (accept for an Endless mode.) Again, it's not an easy game and requires some thinking! lol I do recommend Alien Robot Monsters (ARM) to ALL TD junkies out there. Join the forces to eliminate the freakin creeps!!! :-)The game runs silky smooth on my Apple PowerBook Pro:Hardware Overview: Model Name: MacBookPro 11,5 (Mid 2015)Processor Name: Intel Core i7Processor Speed: 2.8 GHzNumber of Processors: 1Total Number of Cores: 4L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KBL3 Cache: 6 MBMemory: 16 GB Type: DDR3 Speed: 1600 MHzVideo Card: AMD Radeon R9 M370X, VRAM 2048 MBOperating System: OS X El Capitan version 10.11.6 (64 bit OS)Edit: After resetting my Upgrade points and redistributing them, some weird things happed. I beat a map and didn't get the points/stars... They show up on the map selection screen, but not in the upgrades screen. Oh well... I'm sure they'll figure it out. There are other complaints about this same bug. Waiting for a dev response...At a stand still now. I don't want to spend anymore time in game, in case I don't get anymore stars for beating maps. Besides, without upgrades, you CANNOT advance in the game! I'll wait before changing my review status. It was fun until that point. I couldn't advance until I reset my points and put them all into the soldiers melee and armor... SUPER HARD GAME!!! BTW, there is no penalty for resetting your points, but that bug does exist and it is a game breaker!. 'Alien Robot Monsters' is not just a tower defense game. But if you feel like Superman or like playing single maps for hours again and again, go ahead and try. You have been warned.. One of my most favourite tower defense games. It is in the puzzle genre within tower defense (as in you cannot place towers everywhere so you have to make good decisions and tactics are important). Difficulty is well balanced and its easy to get into. There are only some moments where the curve increases a bit but you can always ask for help at the forums (helpfull community and the dev too). There are plenty of towers and lots of variety between them (for example there are towers that spawn marines which can actually stop enemies or e.g. have abilities like laying mines). There are plenty of maps (~35). Maps are not too long so it doesn't get boring. The enemies are also varied. And finally you get 'star' points after winning a level which you can use for upgrades which give you a passive bonus on each map or give you an active ability.I would give it a 9. Could be improved with even more maps :).
